My Story

My name is Lyla, and I am 14 years old. I have autism, ADHD, and anxiety, and throughout my life, animals have always been my safe space—especially horses. Ever since I was little, I have been completely obsessed with them. There’s just something about their gentle nature and the way they connect with people that has always drawn me in. I started riding when I was just two years old, and from that moment on, I knew horses were going to be a huge part of my life.

Growing up in a non-horsey family made my journey even more challenging. Unlike some riders who have parents deeply involved in the equestrian world, I had to figure everything out on my own. For as long as I can remember, I begged my parents for a horse, but they always told me no—until, after ten years of persistence, they finally gave in. Even then, it wasn’t easy. I had to save up my own money, buy all the gear myself, and take full responsibility for the costs of owning a horse.

I spent what felt like forever searching for the right horse. I looked at so many different ones, and after each disappointment, I started to lose hope. But then I found Amarnis. The moment we met her, I knew she was the one. There was an instant connection, and I fell in love straight away. That moment changed everything, and from then on, Amarnis and I began our journey together—a journey full of challenges, growth, and incredible achievements.
